D & R Apothecary - Spring's Arrival

*Purchased by me*

This has got to be one of the coolest glitter toppers I own!! It really is the perfect representation of Spring! It has flowers, butterflies, hexes, squares, & shards all in various pastel colors!

The following description is taken from D & R Apothecary's website & sums it up perfectly:

"This is such a FUN polish! Tons of flowers and butterflies in aqua, yellow, pink & purple along with hex, square and shred glitter in iridescent, green, pink, aqua, purple, and yellow. This reminds me of flowers starting to bloom and butterflies flying all around. Love It!"

I really love it too!

This is 2 dabbed coats of Spring's Arrival over Kleancolor Pastel Yellow & topped with 1 coat of Gelous, & 1 coat of Seche Vite.

I purchased "Spring's Arrival" from the D & R Apothecary Etsy page, and Kleancolor "Pastel Yellow" from Amazon.com.

Black Cat Lacquer - Paranormal

Another cool Halloween inspired polish from Black Cat Lacquer! This one is filled with opalescent/iridescent medium sized squares and tiny hexes in a glow in the dark base. I chose to layer it over a light base color because glow in the dark polishes tend to work better that way.. and it did! (see pic further down). A beautiful subtle glitter by day, and totally awesome by night! :D

This is 2 coats of Paranormal over Kleancolor Pastel Yellow (which can be seen by itself at the end of this post), followed by 1 coat of topcoat.

There was no sun in sight today, so I had to take pics indoors. Unfortunately I've got severe lobster hands in some of these photos (I swear they didn't look that way in person!).

I held my hand under a lamp for about a minute to "charge" the polish, then took this picture in total darkness by adjusting my camera's exposure to it's highest/longest setting:
pretty cool, eh? ..though it was brighter in person.

Kleancolor Pastel Yellow is.. you guessed it - a pastel yellow. This polish was a pain in the butt to apply. I ended up doing 4 coats just to get it looking smooth and streak free.

I purchased Paranormal from the Black Cat Lacquer Etsy page, and the Kleancolor from Amazon.com (it came in a multi-pack of pastels).

Candeo - Jellybean

This polish is really cool. It's a yellow crelly with purple, blue, & pink hexes, along with itty bitty yellow & green squares!  However, I can't help thinking it would have looked better if I had layered it over a yellow base color. I've seen other people wear it without "undies" and it looked great on them, but on me it's kinda meh. Maybe it's because of my skin tone but this polish didn't look as yellow on me. It looked more like custard, or maybe even a yellow toned nude. Oh well. Next time I will definitely layer it!

This is 3 coats of Jellybean, followed by 1 coat of Gelous, and 1 coat of Essie Good To Go.

I purchased this polish off of the Candeo website for $9. It's out of stock right now, but they will announce restocks on their Facebook page, so don't forget to "like" them! :)

My random song of the night is "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead. Hands down my favorite Radiohead song of all time!

Hit Polish - Candied Jewels

Let me start off by saying that Hit Polish is the new name of D & R Apothecary's nail polish line. I absolutely love their polishes! You may remember the post I did of "Halloween" a couple weeks ago (if not, you can find it here). I wore that mani for days (which for me is really saying something - considering how easily bored I get), I honestly didn't want to take it off! Well here is another amazing polish from them called "Candied Jewels", which I plan on wearing for awhile as well! It has medium sized matte purple & matte red hexes (they both have those awesome little stripes on them!), matte teal hexes that are slightly smaller than the red & purple, small green, blue, and white hexes, and small green squares - all in a clear base. A very unique combination that I totally adore!

I layered 2 dabbled coats of Candied Jewels over my Spoiled "Did I Dye It Too Blonde?" mani from yesterday, followed by 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dry top coat. I'm really pleased with how it came out! :D

and the super yummy macro!:

I purchased this polish off of D & R Apothecary's Etsy page, but it can also be purchased on their new website HitPolish.com. The creator of these polishes, Rachel, is really sweet and very talented. She's always coming up with new polishes - I seriously make at least one purchase from her every week!

Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?

This polish is so super duper neon that I had a hard time getting good photos of it. I've heard other bloggers say that neon polishes tend to freak their cameras out.. well mine was no different. These are the best shots I could get, and even they are blurry :(

This polish is a jelly so rather than wear it alone I layered one coat of it over 2 coats of Wet n Wild French White. It's muuuuuch brighter this way.. maybe too bright perhaps? ..nah!!
